What are Barbed Threads?

PDO Thread lift uses a variety of barbed threads to achieve a lifting effect. These threads are made of polydioxanone, a type of sugar, which is why they are called PDO threads. The benefits of using this type of thread is that it makes it is absorbed by your body over time and reduces complications over time. Tiny barbs along the threads allow the skin to be pulled and set in place creating a supportive and lifting effect on the face or body.

Is PDO Thread lift right for me?

PDO thread lift is ideal for patients in their thirties and fifties who are experience poor skin laxity (e.g. sagging skin) and volume loss (e.g. sunken cheeks). PDO thread lifts can create improvements to any area of the body and the face. Although PDO is an alternative to a surgical face-lift, PDO thread lift cannot match the improvements of a face-lift 100%. Some patients who are experiencing laxity issues may not benefit from PDO and their only option may be a surgical face-lift. For more information and the learn if PDO is right for you, we invite patients to schedule a one-on-one consultation with our advanced nurse practitioners.

What areas of the body and face can I treat with PDO thread lift?

PDO thread lift is very versatile and can treat many areas. The most common areas to treat are loose skin on the cheeks, loose skin on the chin, loose skin on the neck, wrinkles around the lips, sagging eyebrows, and sagging skin on the knees.

What is the pain, downtime, and how long does the appointment take?

The procedure can take 15 - 45 minutes to complete. Your advanced health professional will administer a local anesthetic to the point where the thread will be inserted. A tiny incision will be made and the threads will inserted through that point. Many patients report that the most uncomfortable portion of the procedure is the applied anesthesia and the small incision. After the procedure is complete, we instruct patient to expect soreness and bruising the next day. Soreness, depending on the number of areas treated, can last anywhere from 1 - 2 weeks. An clinical visit will be scheduled for you to return and follow up with you provider to evaluate results.
